Dead, shall we say?
...well, to put it lightly, summer hiatus is here!!
Seeing as no one reads this (with *very* few exceptions), does it matter? | | |
| There is a meeting this Thursday, May 26th.
I guess no one really reads this at all... ._.;;
I haven't received any poems yet, so I supposed the contest is over.
We have 2 choices as far as watching anime for the rest of the year. We can watch the next four episode of revolutionary Girl Utena, or we can watch Full Metal Panic this Thursday and pick a new anime for our last meeting.
I don't really know what to do with the club, I am a little disappointed because myself and others are making an effort to get information to you and try to get everyone involved. Yet attendance is beginning to dwindle, and besides Leah and Eric I don't think anyone has visited the site. I really do want this club to survive into next year. And maybe we have had some lame things, but we continue to be open to new ideas. I know it's hard to keep everyone interested all the time, but bear with us. This is my first time starting a club from the ground up and running it. I try to make good decisions and plan as best as I can. But we really really cannot do anything without our members. Seriously.
Over the summer, hopefully I can get the real tripod website running. And I will continue to update. I also want to try to get together with everyone a few times to discuss plans for next year, watch anime, have a manga party, etc.
As far as next year goes, the only thing I am really concerned about are funding and a Halloween cosplay group. Leah and I are going to talk to Dr. Prystupa at the beginning of next year to see if it is ok for us to start fundraising because our current status is a non-fundraising club (so we'd get in trouble if we had any sort of treasury). PLEASE do not mention this to any person outside of the club, just in case the wrong person over hears. Information, especially false information, travels fast. (Remember playing the game telephone as a kid and how skewed a message got the more people it went to?)
I still badly need an idea for cosplay next year. I also need to know who is going to participate and what characters everyone wants etc. If we end up doing a video game/anime/manga and more than one person wants a specific character, you'll have to work it out amongst yourselves. If no resolution can be reached (we're old enough that I shouldn't have to step in, right?), then we will result to drawing a name out of a hat. And after that if there is still squabbling about who got to be who or that it was unfair etc, then the person(s) in question will NOT be allowed to participate. [Think about how sorry it'd be if things came to that outcame.]
Because we have more girls than guys, if you suggest an anime take that into consideration. Sailor Moon would be an excellent series. I'm not saying that's for sure. Even if I do like that idea myself...
The reason we need to get started on the cosplay costumes during the summer is due to time. It takes time to make a good costume (if you're going to cosplay, make an effort; it's one thing if you absolutely cannot get supplies, but another thing if you're lazy). I mentioned before that if money is an issue or you need help sewing, there are members who might be able to help you. I want to make sure everyone who would like to be part of this can be. If things don't work out, then I'm sorry. But I promise to help to the best of my ability.
I'd like to say goodbye and good luck to Jen. We'll miss you next year! :)

| There IS a meeting this Thursday, May 12th!!
Just in case you were wondering, we're starting AniMAYnia (clever title, eh? ^^). This week we will be watching Revolutionary Girl Utena. This happens to be one of my favorite series. I guess the main genres it falls under are shoujo/romance/fantasy/semi sci-fi. It has a little bit of somethnig for everyone. And let me just say, it gets VERY twisted the more you watch it.
The series centers around Utena Tenjou (pronounced Ten-joe), a young headstrong girl who dreams of being a fairytale prince! Yep, not a princess, but a prince!! One day when she was very small, her parents died and upon realizing this she plunges into a river. A shining, ethereal prince saves her. This inspires her to become strong like the prince in hopes she will one day meet him. The manga, anime, and Utena movie are all unique to one another. They have the same basic plot but different nuances to them. I suggest acquainting yourself with all three, that is if you like the series or genres.
**I have decided, along with Maki-san, that we will watch 2 episodes of 3 different series. It's more convient that way and will allow us all a better taste of the series we watch.**
I am still open for suggestions for the last 2 series. Keep in mind, I want variety. Meaning, let's try not to have more shoujo/romance unless they are HIGH QUALITY series that are to die for. And also, we have to keep it PG-13 rated...
I hope you all enjoy what we have to offer, and keep in mind we still have a poetry contest! Scroll down a few posts to read about haiku and senryu as well as the theme for the contest.
